Pittsburgh DJ Successfully Moves Crowd to Donate in COVID-19 Curbside Event

More than 100 people braved the rain and donated more than 2.5 tons of material donations and over $1,000 in monetary donations in the first ever Stop and Drop event in Pittsburgh's Highland Park to benefit individuals served by the Light of Life Rescue Mission.

The Stop and Drop event was coordinated by legendary Pittsburgh radio personality DJ Nick Nice and Grind Mode Management. It was held today, Sunday, April 26, 2020 in Highland Park at Rhododendron Shelter Lake Dr, Pittsburgh, PA 15206.

"Today the Pittsburgh community did not allow a little rain to get in the way of their commitment to service," DJ Nick Nice said.

In recent weeks, Americans, and the world, have suffered at the hands of COVID-19, a highly contagious virus that causes respiratory illnesses and can even lead to death. Information on the COVID-19 and how to stay safe can be found at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (www.cdc.gov).


April 2, 2020 - Approx. 60,000 view impressions on Facebook on the first two nights.

April 6, 2020 - Over $300 in Gift cards to deserving families.

April 11, 2020 - Woodland Hills fundraiser raising over $5,000 in 2 hours with WAMO-FM.

April 11, 2020 - 20 food vouchers from Big Shot Bob’s in Bellevue, PA. Adhering to guidance by health officials, individuals remained in their vehicles to donate items. Individuals who walked to the donation area wore face masks.


Guests to today's Stop and Drop event included: Rob Taylor ofthe New Pittsburgh Courier, Tracy Clark, Brotha Ash of Brotha Ash Productions, Paul Ellis from the August Wilson House, Officer Washington from the City of Pittsburgh Police Department, Emmai Alaquiva (Pennsylvania Council on the Arts), and DJ Wink from Big City DJs.
